PETITION TO END LEGISLATING FROM THE BENCH

In the 3-7-2011 meeting we signed a petition to stop the abuse of judges legislating from the bench. They stand up swearing to uphold the Constitution. When the judges sit down, some of them have already forgotten their oath to uphold the Constitution. The below letter is from Ed Weissman, organizer of the Ithaca TEA Party:

Subject: [The-Ithaca-Tea-Party-Meetup-Group] Our letter on the Judiciary has been delivered to Congress

The letter to Congress about the Judiciary has now been faxed to House Speaker John Boehner, Majority Leader Eric Cantor, Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, the 23 GOP members of the House Committee on the Judiciary, and Congressmen Richard Hanna and Maurice Hinchey. Each Congressman received a personalized salutation although the letter now available on the Ithaca Tea Party meet-up site is addressed to Speaker Boehner. You can view the letter at http://files.meetup.com/1436270/Letter%20to%20Congress%20on%20Judiciary%203-9-2011.pdf

If you have trouble opening the letter through this link, go the http://www.meetup.com/Ithaca-Tea-Party/files/ and click on "Letter to Congress on the Judiciary 3-9-2011."

Thanks to everyone who agreed to have their names added to the letter including many from other area groups including the Defenders of Freedom (Dryden), Central NY Patriots (Syracuse area), Odessa NY Tea Party Group, and Spencer-Van Etten TEA. We had 89 "signers" in all.
